Whether a novice or seasoned angler we offer the best opportunity to land a Murray Cod and a memorable time will be had by all.
Fishing @ Coolabah
Coolabah has 2 kilometres of river frontage along the Beardy Waters River offering some of the best Murray Cod fishing in Australia.
If kayaking or canoeing, you will have access to many more kilometres of the Beardy Waters River to explore and fish.
Whether kayaking, canoeing or “having a flick” from the banks this is a tremendous fishing experience.
Sustainable Fishing practices
Over the years many fish have been caught in excess of 1 metre in length. ALL fishing at Coolabah is ‘catch and release’ to ensure that the fishing experience can be enjoyed by many generations to come.
We give you the opportunity to fish at your leisure or we can provide you with a very experienced fishing guide should that be the adventure you are looking for.
Fishing at Coolabah is an opportunity to fish at all hours of the day, including mornings or evenings with surface luring and afternoons with spinners and stump jumpers, to name a few.
When’s the best season?
Coolabah’s Murray Cod fishing season is 1 December to 31 August.
We do not take bookings for Fishing Tours in April to take advantage of the height of the hunting season. For the most enjoyable fishing experience, we recommend December through to March bookings.
What to Bring
As an experienced angler you should bring whatever gear you are comfortable with. However, at Coolabah we recommend a 6-10kg rod, 3000-4000 fishing reel with 20 to 30 pound line spin or bait casting rod.
As your fishing tour is unguided and uncatered you will need to bring all your food, drink and snack needs.
As evenings (even in summer) can be cool please bring warm clothing, along with any sunscreen and insect repellent.
Life vests and/or flotation devices must also be brought.
You can also bring along your own kayak and/or canoe for use on the river.
Accomodation at Coolabah
The Kelly Cabin is a hidden gem nestled on the bank of the Beardy Waters River located at the eastern edge of Coolabah.
